2014 Lernerville Pickem

2014 Lernerville Pickem

Welcome back everyone for 2014 Lernerville Pickem, the glorious 5th season of this game!  This  serves as the official rule book. The top prize once again features a Lernerville Pick 6 Pack valued at $70.00. There will also be a mid season $15 gift card of choice awarded to the mid season leader. This is completely free to play! Here’s how it works!
1. There will be a weekly posting right here for the week’s selections, normally posted each Sunday, all weekly picks occur in that week’s post. You simply add selections as a comment to the posting. Running point totals will be updated during the season. The opening of the week’s post will be announced on twitter @TheDirtNetwork “Green Flag waves on Week ____ edition of Lernerville Pickem”
2. You will pick four drivers, one in each fab four division. Your driver’s finishes will be valued with the following point system.
win = 8
top 5 = 4
top 10= 2

You will also pick a wild card from any one of the fab four divisions. Your wild card driver MAY NOT be any of your other four picks. Duplicate Wild Card Picks will be allowed and will be scored with the aforementioned points system. This means that people can may select a wild card driver that others have already selected.

3. You have until Friday/Raceday at 12 noon to make your picks!

4. Duplicate Picks- No two sets of picks shall be identical division per division. In other words, if two players share the exact same picks in all four divisions, the first player will be scored, the second will be warned to change a pick.

5. Standings will be updated every week, the player with the highest point total is your winner. It is therefore important to pick EVERY WEEK. If you’d like a reminder, then please follow  @TheDirtNetwork on twitter and Direct Message us that you’d like to be included in the reminder tweets that will occur.

6. If a weekly event is rained out, then 2 show up points will be awarded to all participants. The picks that were made are then erased and the next thread will have new picks.

7. After the third rainout of the season, a double or triple points night may be awarded at our discretion, but not on the final night of racing. Sufficient notice will be given.

8. Special Events- We will have Lernerville Weekly Pickem contests for the Firecracker 100, the Don Martin Silver Cup, the Commonwealth Clash and the World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. Plus others as sponsor gifts allow! These events will feature a $25.00 gift card to the winner and any points accumulated will not count towards regular season standings, they are seperate contests altogether.

9. Tiebreaker Procedure- 1. The greatest amounts of winners picked. 2. The greatest amounts of winners and top 5s picked. 3. The fewest number of 0 point finishing drivers in weekly events.

10. If the board is malfunctioning when you are making selections, you may tweet your picks to us @TheDirtNetwork on twitter before Noon on Friday of race week.

11. If there are more than 3 first year players, those who have never been identified as having regularly played Lernerville Pickem before by us, that complete the season, there shall be a rookie of the year prize awarded which will feature a $15 dollar Subway Gift Card!

12. Any rule that falls outside the scope of this rule package, shall be governed by Gary Heeman @21stCenturySkiz on twitter with regards to decisions.

As far as what drivers to select goes, that’s up to you. You can use any resource available to find out who’s coming and who’s not. You’ve got to do some homework sometimes to get the most out of the game. Use driver websites, facebook pages….etc to find out if you can gain an edge by finding out what drivers are going where whenever All Stars, WoOLM or Sprint….etc are in the area affecting Lernerville car counts.

I can’t reiterate this enough, IT IS IMPORTANT TO PLAY EVERY WEEK!!! There will be some people who drop out, but we play for pride here. Always have…always will!! So make sure to play every week. If you want us, we’ll send you reminders via twitter on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Have a great season, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Have fun! This game is supposed to be fun, it makes going to the races all the more exciting!! Don’t believe us? Then just start playing…you’ll see what we’ve known for over 4 years now!!

  1. We've made it to the end of the regular season version of Lernerville Pickem for 2014! Congrats to each and every one of you for making it to the end! We hope you've had fun, and that it's made the races that much more enjoyable. We've still got some special contests coming up, including our just announced Inaugural World 100 Pickem Contest presented by Bell Helmets/Bell Racing USA. As well as our Commonwealth Clash and World Finals Pickem Contests later on this fall.

Alright, now it's time for the final week! We picked the All Star Sprints in the spring, so it's only fitting and fair that we pick the World Of Outlaws Late Models and include them in the standings too. Here's the format:

    1. You will Select 1 (one) quicktime driver for time trials. Should your driver stop the clock with the fastest time, you will be awarded 15 points! But… should your driver be the fastest among all quicktime drivers selected, regardless of where they fall. you will receive 10 points.
To be clear, if any one of you select the fastest qualifier, it's 15 points, nobody else gets the bonus. Should none of us select the fastest qualifier, the player(s) who selected the next fastest qualifier gets 10.

2.You will then select four Amain drivers. Their finishes will be scored with the following point breakdown:

    Win = 24
    2-5 = 16
    6-10 = 12
    11-15 = 8
    16-24 = 4

    3. Should any of your amain drivers win a heat, 5 points will be awarded. Should they win a Bmain, 5 points will be awarded as well.

    4. You may not select the same 4 amain drivers as anyone else, 1 driver must be different
    5. ALL entries this week shall be submitted no later than 4 PM Friday August 29.

So there it is, one last Lernerville Pickem. I thank you all for playing this year, and sincerely hope you've come to enjoy the site! Afterwards, we'll be tweeting the winners and putting the winners in our Hall of Fame! Good Luck Everyone!

    Gary Heeman:

    Quick Time: Tim McCreadie

    Darrell Lanigan
    Gregg Satterlee
    Tim McCreadie
    Davey Johnson

  2. Okay everyone. I'm going to post the scores from this past Friday's show here. To determine a champion and the final standings, ALL weeks must be audited (re-checked) for accuracy. This take a while. When I've finished the official standings. I will post the article on the front page and make a twitter announcement.

Thanks everyone for playing and don't forget to get your World 100 Pickem selections in before Thursday at 4 PM.

    8/29 scores.
